Restoring Confidence
with SMP for scalp Scars
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) can help you conceal scars left after a hair transplantation treatment or an accident, so that the final appearance blends in seamlessly with the surrounding hair.
Hair transplantations are generally the most severe kind of hair restoration considered by individuals suffering from hair loss. They are considered severe due to the invasive nature of the surgery and the high cost associated with it.
Hair gives us pride and confidence. We make daily efforts to keep it in good condition since it is a vital part of our overall appearance. It can be shocking when hair begins to shed in unusual amounts, and you notice a change in your hairline or scalp. Although the reasons for hair loss can often be diagnosed by a doctor, its treatments are often limited and not always effective.
In hair transplantation, there are two common methods: Follicular Unit Hair Transplant (FUT) involves the removal of a 6-10 inch strip of scalp where hair growth is abundant and strong. Additionally, there is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), in which the surgeon will shave the back of the patient’s head before starting to pull out donor hair follicles one at a time.
Transforming Your Look
with SMP for Head Scar Camouflage
SMP will create the look of natural hair follicles by implanting organic black ink into the scalp. SMP results can last up to three to five years before they need to be touched up. The treatment is comparatively pain-free and results in a natural-looking outcome that will enhance self-confidence.
If you prefer a shorter haircut, SMP will assist in creating the appearance of hair follicles at the back of the head in cases where there are surgical scars. SMP provides the appearance of complete hair for those with longer hair. Subsequently, the scar won’t be visible since its bareness will be covered.
The scar tissue can be quite thick and won’t respond to pigments the same way a regular scalp would. For normal treatments, you can expect three to four sessions lasting anywhere from one to six hours. Additional sessions may be necessary for surgical scar cases as we examine how the area has responded to the treatment.
There will be work done on more than just the scar area. To achieve a blended, natural appearance, additional SMP work will be done in the areas on either side of the scar.
To ensure that the injuries are fully healed both internally and externally, the FUT/FUE scar cover with SMP can only be performed at least 8 to 12 months after the surgery.
